I had crocs with me while backpacking. I noticed that while they're light, they don't offer much protection under foot. I felt every rock in camp.

I've looked at some routes and trails online but haven't seen anything specific or solid that I would use. This would be basically my dirt bike pack ride ever... I've toured and what not and ride a good bit but nothing quite like this. I'm half thinking of just riding out there and following some trails and see when I end up. I don't have any specific bike packing bags just panniers and a back pack. I have gear from backpacking and figure most of that should work.
As I ponder this trip.... My biggest question at the moment is tent or hammock.
I subscribe to the "adventures suck when you're having them" mantra at times.  Plus, If it really sucks, I can always go set up a camp site at Pine Grove State Park and use it as a base camp of sorts for riding out there.

I'm around 195 with a 30# Fargo before gear. Not sure what pressure I've been running... Harder on the road, softer off. Will check next time I think of it.

I've had the clement MSO X'plorer on my Fargo for about a year now. Didn't ride much over the winter so figure more like 6 months of actual riding. They're a great all-around choice. Much faster on pavement and most double track. Not great for single track but still fun. I've got a second set just in case they decide to stop making them.

I'd err on the side of caution and go with a Fargo.... You can size down the tires easier on it than you can size up tires on the vaya.

Which is basically what the above poster said....

This is on my list of rides to do. My dad's done it a few times.... The joys of retirement.

I was actually meaning to join but hadn't gotten around to it. I will definitely re-up when the time comes.

I've got a gen1 that I will probably get rid of and replace with a Fargo it frame.

I was holding off for a pair of the PI x-projects but it seems they are just teasing us with those.
