Cool great info, thanks. Any particular time i CANT ride the first 30 miles due to weather? I was thinking its year round biking, am I wrong?

In terms of tires how many flats or at least punctures should i expect! i plan on using tubeless obviously! should I add more Stan's to my tires before hand?

As always thanks for the feedback!

A little off topic here, but I'm Considering the 300 this year! Just getting into long rides like this. I finished the CT in 10 days this past August not racing but enjoying it. I guess I'm Curious what kind of terrain I'm dealing with! How would you compare the riding to say......Loma, Moab, Fruita, and Sedona? I live in Crested Butte but wondering where I need to train this winter. Thanks again!

hello,

I've been doing a lot of research on a good saddle for Long Rides and Bikepacking, I have a stock trek saddle that's been giving me problems. I ride with Sugoi Bibs That have plenty of protection. I've heard a lot about WTB Saddles and was looking at Lazer V and Rocket V saddles. any suggestion you guys might have would be very Helpful!  headbang

If you go with a bag like the Big Agnes, with a pad sleeve on the bottom, and slide your pad in it, it may help keep the bag in place. I have slid my pad between my bivy bag and sleeping bag when cold weather hammocking, and keeps the bag in place better.

Good luck!

I've never had a problem with my Big Agnes bag and pad. the pad slides right into the bag keeping insulation on the bottom and saving weight! win win! and when i twist and turn, which i do alot. The pad keeps the bag in place!

Just and idea, but one of my best camping investments I've ever made!!!

interesting...

Ive also done lots of research on bears in Colorado, and in more populated areas i think it would be a good idea to hang.

Side note:
does anyone not use a back pack and use just a seat back, frame bag, and handle bar bag??
I'm trying to figure out what combination i should use?

Hello,

So a buddy and I are going to thru bike the Colorado trail sometime between late July and early sept. I was wondering if anyone else has done the thru-bike. Our plan... which is completely still up in the air is to go from Denver to Durango, in 9 or so days? Not sure how to go about planning this fun expedition! We want to make it as simple as possible, camp, one or two re-rations, carry are own gear, etc.

questions i have:
Routes
Tough sections to be aware of.
Ultra Light bike packing, what packs to use for a full suspension bike??
tubes or tubeless
type of tires
gear list
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

or if anyone know resources that is helpful let me know

Thanks
