I simply downloaded the gpx file from http://www.topofusion.com/divide/gps.php , then opened the garmin from "My Computer", searched for the "New Files" folder, then saved the file into that folder. Disconnected the garmin and let it refresh the files. Came out fine on the other end. I do have an SD card installed with street maps if that makes a difference. The settings for how the map will function can be made when you set your course for the TD trail by clicking the "wrench icon" on the screen..Hope that helps..

Mines pretty simple. I attached a profile design aerobridge to mount the GPS so its visible while riding either set of bars. A small cyclocomputer is mounted just in front of the left pad (not visible), and my gopro mount is also attached to the bars. I replaced the fork and decided to setup a twin bar system with the aero bars on top and riser bar below. This raises my position in the aero position and makes it more comfortable. This picture is before I mounted Fenix flashlights to the bottom of the aero bars (similar to stappy td rig), and cut the aero mounting bar to length. My map is also normally attached between the aero bars on top. Ergon grips, xt shifters and avid speed dial levers to round out the pit.

The C&O canal is my backyard when it comes to bikepacking. I did a thru trip of the GAP/C&O last year (video attached). If you plan on making a race out of it I would recommend keeping it on the down low. Its a state park and they do not allow racing of any kind with a "speed limit" of 15mph. I've helped organize large charity rides on the canal and they are sticklers when it comes to permits even. One year they had a D&R agent at great-falls with a radar gun! So, in a word, caution, but it sounds like a blast  headbang

Im setting up to do the Divide in 2014...I am currently running a 1x9 set up with a 32x12-36..Would you say this is a sufficient set up or should I convert to a 2x9 with a 24/32x11-34 or possibly a 2x10 with a 26/39x11-36 or 1x10 with a 39x11-36?

Take the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) to the C&O. AKA Pittsburgh to Georgetown Waterfront. Just over 300 miles
