looking at individual histories JP was about 7 hours faster than BL to Salida pick a point for for an individual and it tells how long ago it pinged so for JP add 46 hours to the ping time to compare to BL and others

last year for the last 90% to 99% I was counting switchbacks, but for last 1% (99% to 100%) I had to count steps just to keep motivation I was thinking every 3 steps = 1 m and I needed to do only 300 m, and that was on a dry trail without much in the way of stairsteps
weather report shows the rim should have been well above freezing at the coldest point last night

no problem if you start at the south rim in the morning, you will reach the closure area in the late afternoon short nap, then proceed after 4:30 and ride out to Jacob Lake at night while the snow is crusty and frozen

how crusty is the snow at night? can you stick to the regular off-highway trail and ride around the ADOT?
and again what a bummer for Dave. Last year he was just a down wrapped burrito in the blizzard.

It's very reliable. When my great grandmother did the AZT that how she did it, she mailed stuff because she wasn't tough enough to carry it from the border. But she's frail, so nobody thought any less of her accomplishments.
^lol say you arrive late friday afternoon you would have to wait to monday morning to get your stuff
