0.06 HDPE plastic - Look in your town for a plastics fabricator and buy a scrap piece.
2  Forums / Winter bikepacking / Re: using pogies on: December 27, 2013, 03:19:24 PM
The moisture is coming from sweat, so something is overheating, try rolling your sleeves up to vent your wrists as they are a big heat sink, or ditch the liner gloves. If the bars are cold for that then wrap your grips with bar tape. IMO if your pogies need vents - you don't really don't need pogies.
3  Forums / DIY / Make Your Own Gear (MYOG) / Re: Including Zipper in Pattern on: December 02, 2013, 06:48:05 PM
bones - the allowance varies depending on how you are sewing in the zipper and the width of the foot on your machine. So to test: Take a piece of fabric, say 5" wide. Cut it in half, install the zipper then measure the width again. The difference will give you the proper allowance with whatever method you're using for the zip. FYI - it might also not be anything...

FYI - if you run the film side of the TX-07 outwards it does not handle abrasion well at all. The ripstop side is not much better. It's tent fabric - light and disposable for bags.

J - Poaching the goodwill of products that the OP was asking about, then interjecting your link for a possible sale has shaky ethics at best.
I have never, ever used this forum as a marketing tool in it's years of existence, it should be a community place. But I will call BS on stuff like this.

Youre welcome. Stop hijacking threads for free marketing of a copy cat product.

No, I think the poster was looking for the original Mountain Feedbag, not a knock off imitation.

The whole strap was re-designed so the grip material and velcro placements really minimize the movement at the post. These tweaks makes the single strap more stable than the earlier 2 straps version.

Greg, go easy on the "hey I was first!"  if you want to go down that road I made and sold a few bolt custom frame bags in 2008. Just because you post something on the internet does not mean you were the first to think of it. I never went any further with it as I did not see any real benefit with the bolt on system while there are obvious disadvantages.

Wow just wow. Incredible effort by all those guys. I have to wonder what the hallucinations must have been like on the Kuskokwim with so little rest. Sub 3 days. phew.

Steve was a walking pain machine that year. I finished 2hrs ahead of him on a bike. barely. relentless pace and so little rest.
Pete is out of Rohn, I wonder if he changed his mind...

Phil - are they both on Singlespeed's again this year? man... I thought they would have learned something from last time but I guess it made them stronger!
Casey - don't know.

This is a fast and stacked field, likely the fastest batch of racers in a long time. Tim B is an animal, will be interesting to see how he holds on as a rookie at the front of the pack. Question is.... What's up with Pete?

check the Surly Pugsley / Troll / Ogre frame bags, they are longer than the Mukluk ones.

thought some of you would get a giggle out of this.

My old standby setup has been neos, with the inside being a set of sorel liners glued to approach shoe soles (cut away all the uppers leaving only the heal cup behind, then belt sanded on the bottom thin out the sole down for the most interior space). I have used these for years and did the idita once using them.

This winter sustained weeks of below zero this winter (never seemed to get cold toes in the past at low temps) left me craving a bit more insulation. My size 13 feet do not make this easy and I could feel I needed it more on top of my feet then from the bottom.

So that was the direction to go - needed more height to the neos. scissors out, cutting them in half made me formally committed.

added 2" of material to the tops..

and connected this to the neos soles.

Made an inner bootie out of hi-loft synthetic insulation, stuffed it in. Finished boot.

They are a freak show and gigantic, but ride great and are toasty.

I've used the Integral Designs vb's a ton. They are good but there are still issues. They are slick, so lots of walking will bunch up socks around your toes and the VB slides down. Creativity can solve that one, kinda. I'd also love it if they were an inch or 2 taller as that top closure is right at the top of some boots. I wish they used something other than a cord lock for the closure, the seam tape started to peal on mine in like 4 seasons (good enough...). But like Jay mentioned, I like that they are thin and you can layer and switch packed out outer socks on long trips - something that's almost impossible with the RBH socks.
19  Forums / DIY / Make Your Own Gear (MYOG) / Fabric for sale - Black VX-07 on: November 28, 2012, 11:27:43 AM
I have a decent amount of DP VX-07 fabric that I'll sell to the community here. It's the dimension polyant laminate with 70d ripstop as the outer layer (1sts). Good for light weight bag projects.
$15 yd, full yds only. Shipping via priority mail. send me an email at eric@revelatedesigns.com if you want some.
cheers
