5  Forums / Classifieds / Vittoria Canoli 29x3 tires sold on: April 21, 2020, 08:26:50 PM
I have a set of Vittoria Canoli 29 x 3" tires for sale.  I rode on them twice. The 2nd time out in the desert in sand.  They were great in the sand and are good snow tires too.
I replaced them with something smaller for local rides. So I need to sell these.  I'm asking $70 shipped in the US.

The Specialized Rime Elite has a fairly wide toe box.  Nothing like an Altra shoe but works OK for me

Size large frame built with Sram 9 speed XO twist shifters and X9 rear derailleur. Double ring Sram crankset 36-22. Ritchey WCS trail stem and Salsa Bend 2 bars. Hayes Trail hydraulic disc brakes. Sun Ringle 80mm Mulfut rims on Bontrager hubs with Specialized Ground Control 4" tires. Cassette is a Sram 11-34. Saddle included is a WTB Pure V
Used on 4-5 overnights in the desert and a dozen or so local rides so very little use. Great for the beach or desert and everywhere in between.
I had Matthews Custom Cycle add some water bottle braze-ons to each fork for extra water storage. I used spray paint to cover the brazed area on the fork.
Includes the Oveja Negra custom frame bag in Multicam. Other bags shown on last photo are not included but seatbag and top tube bag are available for extra $125

Asking $1100  and $120 for shipping  will ship in two boxes. One for frame and one for wheels. Local pickup/ delivery in So Cal

the drop is 102 mm according to this article. http://www.bikeradar.com/us/road/gear/category/components/handlebars/handlebars-road/product/ritchey-wcs-venturemax-review-51076/

It seems shallower then the cowchipper which I was using prior to the Ritchey.  The reach seems a bit longer though.  I had to go to a 1cm shorter stem to get the same lever position as the cowchipper.

I have been using the new Ritchey Venturemax bar which is similar to the Cowchipper. Both have the hood position for less technical terrain and 24 degrees of flare for the steeps.
The Ritchey has less drop which allows you to use both hand positions without one being too high or too low. It also has a nice ergo bump in the drops which nests your hand nicely.

19  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: Looking for an Early Spring 3-5 Day Route on: December 03, 2016, 06:12:24 PM

SoCal Crescent hits some optional 6-8k' summit singletracks en route from Hemet to Palm Springs, but also includes the Palm Canyon Epic (or easier variations of it). I rode it for four days a year or two ago and had a blast. No bikepacking route in SoCal will include as much choice ST as this route, but you might be a tad early for some of the goods.

what is this SoCal Crescent route you speak of?  I've never heard of that name before.

20  Forums / Routes / Re: Kern Plateau (Southern Sierras) on: November 24, 2016, 01:44:58 PM
Some interesting routes for sure.  The weather can be a factor in May down in the Kernville area.  It can be 90-100 degrees by then.  It's nice to stay in the higher country as much as possible.
There is some nice singletrack from Camp Nelson up to Quaking Aspen and then down thru the Freeman Creek Grove.  The semi paved road to Lloyd Meadow could be used to come back to Johnsondale
