Alrighty, everyone seems quite satisfied with the times as they are!

ITT'ers (particularly Lachlan Morton!!) please post up your time here so I can include/log it in the results.

Huge congrats CTR finishers!!!   thumbsup Here are the results straight out of Trackleaders. The times are always off by a few minutes due to the SPOT latency, so feel free to update me with your actual time if you'd like it modified. Also, ITT'ers post up here so I can be sure and compile the results list correctly.

Great news! Zach, the new owner of Velorution Cycles, is excited to host the start at his shop and will be there around 3am on Sunday, 7/28, with coffee and donuts! So, same start location as the last few times.

Re-iterating that tracking/registration is not mandatory for the CTR. Just show up and ride! If you do want to be on the Tracking Leaderboard, sign up here:

https://form.jotform.com/trackleaders/ctr19

There is a limit of 74 (USFS non-permitted groupsize) that can sign up for the Group Depart. If that actually fills up, you can always sign up for an ITT.

Race is still going off on 7/28 at 4am in Durango! There may be, perhaps, some additional hike-a-bike on lingering snowfields this year, but even with the huge snowpack in the San Juans, I'd expect the trail to be mostly clear at the end of July. Downed trees may be a bigger slowdown than snow...

Finally, the ownership of Velorution Cycles has changed hands, so I intend to move the start location somewhere else in town. I'd love some suggestions. Ideally, a place with plenty of parking and a public restroom that is open at 4am...

Race will NOT be delayed. Any snow remaining by the end of July will be very hikable. Biggest concern is how soon CTF and other volunteers get out there to chainsaw fallen trees! And with all this wetness, perhaps forest fires will be much less of a concern as well!

The 2018 .gpx is unchanged from 2016/17, so grab it from Toby's blogpost here: http://tobygadd.blogspot.com/2012/01/colorado-trail-race-gpsgpx-tracks-and.html

Sorry for the confusion everyone.

Hell yeah. I Love you all!

Dave, your trip around sounded absolutely brutal. Nice job just finishing the beast in that wind.

Hey Stefan - I finished right behind John Griffiths. Chased him all that last day but couldn't catch him!
Got it, thanks Chris! And great job too!

Wow, what a year!! I believe this was the worst weather year in the history of the CTR, which contributed mightily to the overall finish percentage. Typically, around 50% of the starters will finish, but this year, it looks to be closer to 25%. Big props to everyone who braved the gnarly conditions, regardless of whether you made it to Waterton or not!

These are the times reported by the SPOT trackers, so if they are incorrect, please comment here for any errors or missing finishes and I will fix! Also, feel free to throw in a link to pics/tripreports if you want as I usually make your name a link to that on the "official" CTR page.

Another winner from Colorado Springs!

Looks to be the case! Of course, we haven't seen Basham's Spot re-emerge from the dark side, so we'll have to get confirmation from Seth when he arrives at Waterton. It has been one helluva race so far! Weather conditions not seen since 2011 and 2007 - lot's of super tough people out there "enjoying" the trail.

Yep, Kevin Thomas in 2011. Weather conditions very similar to this year, and I recall at least 3 or 4 of the guys I had pegged for the W dropping!

Having said that, our current men's leader is a rookie from VA.  He seems to have turned it on after Silverton, passing Plesko while he was taking a catnap up high.

A rookie to the CTR, but not the CT; Jonathan had the supported thru-hiking record on the CT in 2006 at 8d13h! http://fastestknowntime.proboards.com/thread/10/colorado-trail He's no stranger to the CT, or to suffering.

After Kennebec, I bailed down Bear Creek to Dolores. The rain started around 1pm, and these are the typical trail conditions the racers will be having. The ground is saturated with lots of standing water every 500' or so.

The last 10 or so riders pushing up Sliderock Mountain to Kennebec Pass, about to be treated to some serious wildflowers and a water resupply. This was around 10:30am, clouds building but no rain coming yet.

Jenna came by as Pat Adrian was showing off his mechanical. He destroyed his granny gear cog on his cassette and jacked up his chain too! As it was only 10-15 miles in, I encouraged him to go get it fixed and restart; he will REALLY want his granny gear for the CTR!
18  Forums / Ultra Racing / Re: 2017 CTR Race Discussion on: July 24, 2017, 07:38:59 AM
I rolled out with the group, taking some time at the trailhead to chat with Marni Plesko, who was there with their two boys. Then I headed up to Kennebec with the group, trying (and failing) to catch just about anyone! I believe this is Jenna Walker cruising up the trail before the drop into Junction Creek.

CTR 2017 started out on a beautiful morning with around 60 leaving from Velorution at 3:58am.

Picking up SPOT rentals at P.O. Hope to have them to Velorution by 1pm.

If you don't pick yours up at the bike shop, I will have it in the morning.
