As usual you guys need a sweep. I'm on my way down this afternoon after work. Really looking forward to the third leg of what I like to call the wstc (working stiffs triple crown) comprised of AZT 300, Dixie 200 & CTR. Now if I could just get third lung implant I'd be set! See y'all at the start Dave

Hey you greyhounds, thought you might need a rabbit to chase our there. I'll be finishing a conference in Denver Wednesday and am finishing up a road trip back to Washington state. What better way to wrap up than the Dixie 200? Scott's got my dinero and I'm looking forward to a cleaner ride than 2012. Just need to remember..... Dixie 200, not Trans Utah. Anyway, really looking forward to this and wave as you go by! Have fun, Dave

Yeah, after I posted that I found that info on another thread. I just wanted to be sure my driver wasn't going to have any "adventures" after dropping me off! Thanks for the reply, really looking forward to this as there is still a foot of snow up here!

Hey you locals, any problem with getting to the start at Parker Canyon and riding the Canelo hills section to Patagonia this time of year? Weather wise sounds good this weekend but just don't want to be shut down by other unknowns. Thanks

Hi everyone, Back in Yakima. all's well. Accidentally pushed the help button instead of giving my wife an OK message. I do this before I stop to sleep so she won't worry. Man, did I give her the opposite effect! That really got confusing trying to find the trail out there. On my end I had the track too far zoomed in and had troubles getting everything to line up. Seeing as we were on4x4 track that was what I was looking for, not a primitive trail only marked by an old mark on a tree 25 yds off the track. Very hard to spot in the daylight, congrats to Greg doing it in the night! I had the misfortune of having my rear derailleur getting slammed into my rear wheel spokes just shy of granite slabs. Turned it into an SS but it was loose. Not great for trail riding. Called it quits at that point. Really a varied course with all types of people to boot. Had to laugh at the posts of the Rubicon sightings! I too had my encounters including the good the bad and the ugly. (One drunk wanted to know if Lance wanted to come over and kiss his nipples) I kept it light, and got the hell out of there! Really had little trouble with the smoke. Only had a bit a couple of mornings, but the winds would then pick up and clear it out. Congratulations to Greg for getting this done. Several nights I would see his lights and then I'd take a wrong turn and he'd be gone. He really plugged along. Thanks to Sean for putting this together. It was a blast seeing a different part of the country. Such incredible trees! And granite! I think I've seen enough granite waterbar drops to last me for a while. Take care everyone Dave

Hey Sean. Stop beating yourself up on this one. The odds of knowing this would happen? Come on, I really appreciate all of the work you've done and are doing on this. As for my thoughts, I got to ride the route closed by fire earlier which is/was spectacular, and although not available is just a small part of the entire route. If as you said we could do the ride minus 30-40 miles, I'd drag my sorry arse down for that. As you said, if it was completely camfire city smokey, I would have second thoughts. So my vote would be a wait and see what the thirtieth brings with updates in between. And if it looks like a no go, Oh well, there's always next year! So count me as open to a reroute if the skies stay reasonably clear.

Hey all, Got some down time and just want to add my two cents worth on this route. Nice pictures everyone. Dave, you've put a winner together. My bonus miles were limited until Sunday morning. You know what they say about a little bit of knowledge. I was having a bit of troubles with my gps. Started down the wrong trail, turned around came back, went down the right track, and then talked myself into heading down the Grandview trail to Mill Creek because that was the way we went during Trans Utah.....DOH! Oh well, the trail wasn't in that bad a shape. Crawford pass was awesome, what a little chainsawing can do. Had fun riding with Mike and Fred. Nice meeting you Mike. The only thing I'd change... Instead of bringing your climbing legs, I think an extra lung would come in handy Later, Dave

Fantastic job Lynda and Kat! That's an awesome loop. Sounds like you were in the right frame of mind on the Roubideau . Except I swear there was going to be a pterodactyl come flying over one of those ridges

Hey Scott, The radar looks as if Salida and the Monarch Crest are getting hammered! Is the general pattern moving east to west or west to east? If it's the former, I agree they are going to get soaked tonight. That's quite the drencher. Eszter is crushing it! And Cat is only three hours behind. She really is stepping it up from last year! Silly me, I always thought cats didn't like to get wet Awesome job every one

Hey Dave, You had a tough call to make with this years conditions. I probably could have finished within my given time peramiters without the blowdown along the route. Upside to it was I got to see plenty of the elusive white columbine whilst diverting off trail. Eszter was a complete animal negotiating the pick up sticks. Best quote of the trip from her as we're wending our way through, "This is........................AWSOME!" It was too funny.

Wow, I don't check the site the whole weekend and look what happens! Cool, I get to come up with a different plan. Hey Dave, what's the best way to get to the start from up north? I know how to get there from Panguitch. Thanks, Dave K
