I have a TI 26er frame built by Carl Strong, that thing will outlast me for sure and I use it hard. I ride DH, XC, DJ and most of the time it lives on the North Shore trails, you name it I ride it with this bike. He's super cool to deal with and extremely knowledgeable. Even after many years of abuse he will still help you out if you have issues with your frame (for free!). Check him out http://www.strongframes.com/ the only down side for some may be the price but for what you get it's a bargain. My next bike (if I get converted to the 29er dark side) is going to be made by him again.

That's super cool! and only 160$. Only problem is it's on back order and you have to go on a wait list to get one.
103  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: Wrist Pain!? on: June 26, 2011, 01:58:51 PM
Not knowing your set up or you, I'll give you my opinion. I happen to know, unfortunately quite a bit on this subject. I broke many bones over the years and had my fair share of injuries. I find that pain, wherever it is, is usually caused by more than one thing. Old injuries is usually where you start, did you ever injure that area? If so, most of the time it's about strength and flexibility. Bike set up is an other major factor. Are you using a rigid fork? How about your brake levers, how are they adjusted? That can have a major effect on your wrists and hands. The bike as a whole, how does it fit? So many possible causes, but if it's a fairly recent thing, I can't see it being that hard to fix.

I'll be there on Saturday... Red singlespeed...  uncommitted to the NSBF
So you'r one of those crazy singlespeeders. I find hard on a geared bike can't imagine doing it with one gear! I'll be the one in a super cool ford escort wagon with a sweet ti frame frame in the back.

Hey, I'm heading this weekend to Pemberton for the Nimby Fifty race (even if your not a racer it's a pretty cool event).  If you'r game there's still some spots and I have room in my car. I'll be at the north shore bike fest as well all three days the weekend after (this time as a timing tech) come say hi if you are in the hood. Anyway if you want we can hook up for an evening ride after work. See ya

A modern version of this would make a fabulous bikepacking bike. Old but new all at once!

Hello my name is Nick,

I'm a long time mountain biker from North Vancouver BC but noob bikepacker. I have been riding the North Shore for over 15 years (riding bike all my life) and now after a somewhat serious injury (and 2 kids) looking for something new. Love reading about the great adventures some of you had and hope to contribute in the not to distant future.
