It's great to see Dave on the cover. He was a heck of a good guy!

Montbell SS Down Hugger #??? (40 degree down) served me very well in the Tour Divide. Packs down small, it's light, it's warm and dries out quick. Slip it in your bivy and your warm when you wake up frozen shoes and ice dew.  headbang

Howdy Folks. I'm John Foster. I just finished the 2010 Tour Divide. I have been involved in cycling for many years. Mostly in event organization and working for the governing bodies of professional mountain bike racing. UCI, NORBA, Olympics...  I am an addict when it comes to riding. I prefer long rides where I'm actually going somewhere so bikepacking has been something that has been fun for me. The Tour Divide offered me a way to head south and keep going. No riding around in circles, no out and back or heading back home before dark. I could always see what is around the next turn or over the next hill.
I Have been looking at this site for a while but never really was a blog kinda guy. I'm still not a blog kinda guy but i will try to get involved in some discussions. I'm pleased that there is now a forum for people who love riding their bikes, more than around the block, can discuss what is important to them. Thanks John Foster (JF-mtnbiker)

The first time I layed eyes on Eric, I knew he could GO. He's a good family man, a class guy and a damn strong rider!! Congrads on a great ride my friend.

Hey Pat. You got it man. Push on to the border and get er done. Just stay on the road and out of all the garbage all over the sides of the road. It's unreal how much trash and filth covers the beautiful landscape in New Mexico. Looks like a third world country.

All good advice but don't be disappointed when you get sores anyway. If you are riding all day for several days, you will have some sores. Just doctor them at night, load up with butter the next morning and deal. During the day, putting your hand down your shorts and putting butter directly on a hot spot can sometimes take the edge off.

Willow Korber is surely ripping the World Cup XC races abord her Gary Fischer hard tail 29er.  She is about 5' 6.
