1  Forums / Ultra Racing / Academic study on endurance mountain biking . . . look for interviewees on: January 18, 2017, 09:15:23 AM
Hello cyclists,
I am doing an independent study in college on endurance mountain biking while training for the 24 Hours in Old Pueblo race next month.  If anyone is a regular rider or racer of 100 miles or more please consider contacting me in order to help the study with interviewees.  I will be doing an in person or over the phone interview with 20 endurance mountain bikers during the next month and conducting a survey with each of them regarding nutrition, mental preparedness and training plans.  If you would like to be involved you can reach me at jeffrey.glessing@prescott.edu.  The study will be closing the 2nd week of February.

Thank you and have a rad day,
Jeff

I am scheduled for four days of bikepacking from the general Tucson area to the Rucker Canyon Forest Service station in the Huachuca Mountain Range.  Does anyone have any experience in this area?  Would love to hear about trails or forest service roads that are worth exploring.  (going to MTB Project next to check their data base.

Great.  Thank you for those that have replied already.  Is there a better way to check the route for potentially impassable snow sections again closer to my departure date?  Is there a site for something like this or is this forum as good as I'm gonna get it?

I am curious about which sections of the trail may be impassable due to snow for an early January route from the border to Oracle.

I also see that there is a MTB reroute for passage 9 (around Saguaro National Park East) and the reroute does not list water options other than my assumption that the Rincon Mtn Visitor Center will be open.  Can anyone speak to that?  This is a 50 mile section from La Selvilla picnic area (mile 122) to Hutch's Pool (mile 174) that I do not have water for.  Just reaching out for anyone that knows the route better than I do.
