Good job Erin. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventure. Can't wait to get back for another run at it.

I'm in the same boat. Tried a ride on thursday but still a fair amount of pain. I guess our ride next sunday will be pretty mellow. I might go for the ITT myself in the fall if I have time.
Erin is looking strong!

Go Erin! Looking good.

Amazing effort Steve. I can't wait to hear more about it. If love to sit down over a beer with you and Josh to compare stories. It was great to meet everyone.

Sorry to hear that Josh. You were having a great ride. Knees were tough this year. Let's get together and ride sometime.
Steve looks like he's killing it. Hope he can keep it up to the finish.

I'm going to have to bail do to knee pain. I slept on it hoping it would feel better but no luck. Now I need to figure out my best route back to my car!

Warranty frame is here! Time to swap the parts and hit the road.

Sorry to hear you won't make it to the start, but am looking forward to hearing how your ITT goes later in the year. You were the first to throw your hat into the ring and I was looking forward to meeting you on Friday night. I've been a bit surprised at how everything has to fall into place to make this happen. I first dealt with health issues and now I'm waiting on a last minute warranty frame that's supposed to show up tomorrow around 1. I will be there one way or another with a few cold beers to enjoy with the remaining field of 4 (plus Dave) tomorrow evening.

It's official...frame is cracked. A new one was shipped today and I'll get it Friday. Quick parts swap before hitting the road. Huge props to Spot on their customer service. A new frame was on its way within a few hours of me calling and sending photos. Sounds like a fluke as they haven't seen anything like this before. Getting more stoked as Saturday gets closer.

I got in on Trackleaders and am all in. Now the only glitch is that I found a small crack in the paint at the top of my right seat stay. I'm sending photos the manufacturer tomorrow am to see if I can ride as is or if they can overnight me a new frame to build up on Thursday. I can't wait and should be to camp by 6 or 7 on Friday evening. Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing the adventure with new friends. This will be my first self supported event and first time over 26 hours of riding.

I'm going to go for it. Headed to Trackleaders to register. Hope I'm in time!

Things are turning around and my medication is back on track, but I'm still not sure if I'll be ready by go time. I'm leaning toward going for it but haven't committed yet. I may end up going spot free. I guess if I want one I need to sign up tomorrow. One thing I know for sure is that I'll be riding 1x10 instead of singlespeed if I go.

As much as I have been looking forward to this adventure, it may not happen this year. I haven't given up hope yet, but am waiting on the results of my blood work from my doctor. I thought the only thing that would keep me would be work, but it turns out health is a bigger issue. I have no strength or energy due to what we believe are issues with my thyroid medication. Last weekend I had to pull the plug early on a gear testing sub 24 ride before the 75 mile completion. I went to the doc, made some adjustments to my medication while waiting on the results and even ordered a hanger to run my ss as a 1x10. If I'm feeling any better in a few days, I'll go for it but I don't want to be stuck out there and not able to pedal my bike. I'm hoping things get better and I can make it. I guess I need to decide in the next couple of days.

Things are looking good for me making this adventure. I have all my gear gathered and borrowed and will be making a test run on Saturday afternoon and Sunday (gotta do my trail volunteer work on national trails day first). I'm planning to do as much of the Park City Point to Point course as snow will allow which will serve dual purpose with that race coming up in a couple of months.
Now I just need to figure out food and water. Does anyone have any suggestions on how much water to carry? I'm planning to carry the food that I'll need and count it as a bonus if I can grab a meal along the way.

Thanks for bringing this back Dave. I was wondering if there was going to be any takers and had held off asking for the time off to do this. It looks like there's already a couple heading that way so I will ask for the time off on Monday.
I've read all the threads and have started planning. Everything is in place gear wise except for a bivy. I'm thinking of going simple with the SOL Escape Bivy unless it's going to be buggy. Anyone have thoughts on that? I also picked up a Garmin Etrex 20 and have downloaded the route and waypoints.
Now I'm really excited but will have to put my mind towards the Dawn till Dusk race on Saturday. I'm sure my girlfriend will be sick of hearing about this by the time we get to Gallup. The good news is we're hoping to do the Lite route sometime together.
Hope to make it and see a few more of you out there!

I thought I'd revive this thread as it seems like the discussions are starting about this year Dixie 200...and that I'm starting to plan for it myself. If work permits a few days off, I'll be there for my first bikepacking race and only my 2nd trip. I was originally planning on the Dixie Lite but discovered that the mass start is for the 200 these days and I'd like to meet some new people, enjoy the atmosphere and shared experiences. I'll save the Dixie Lite for a tour with my girlfriend. I'm piecing together the last of my gear and impatiently waiting for my new Garmein Etrex 20 to show up so I can practice using it before I head south. Reading through this post has got me really excited. Thanks for sharing all of the great photos and experiences.

I'm in the same boat myself. I've pretty much decided to do it next year. I'm trying to do the Dixie 200 at the end of June to get started. My first bikepacking trip was on the White Rim in 2 days about a month ago. I've also done a 6 hour, planning a 12 and 25 hour along with Park City Point to Point for this summer. I'll be at the Barnburner as a support crew, maybe we can chat then.
You may want to consider posting this on the Ultra Racing page where there's been plenty of discussion about these races.
