I wouldn't count on Harold's, but the convenience store next to the campground right before Harold's is good for some snacks and ice cream.

I'm still up in the air this year and will decide in a few days. I was leaning towards a go, but then took a good digger on saturday and am a bit beat up. We'll see how the next week goes.

I did this last year and am bummed I can't be back again this year. I'm doing the final prep for a Sublime Kaibab next week and just realized that I was in my room in Flagstaff last year getting ready for Coconino. Is everyone doing the 4 day stage, or pushing through for a faster pace? I ended up going for a 3 day finish last year and had a great time while pushing hard. Good luck to everyone out there...Go Freako!

We did the Dixie Lite a couple of years ago mid October. Beautiful days and cold nights, but Utah in October is sunny or snowing. All the camp grounds are closed, including the water spigot at Tropic Reservoir. Resupply at Todd's, or roll into Hatch where you can get a meal and camp if you'd like. The convenience store just past Thunder Mountain should still be good to go. The burger barn and convenience store in Panguitch Lake are open until mid october as well (we were there the last weekend they were open). I'd suggest checking with all of these for their closing dates. If everything is open and the weather is nice it's an amazing fall trip.

I had planned on making it this year, but life got in the way. No racing for me this year. I've got this on the list for next year, after azt 300 and dixie 200.

I wish I was there as a dot instead of watching them this year. The IT band issue that scratched me 2 years ago has reared it's ugly head again this spring, so I chose not to risk it and make it worse this year. I'm hoping to do an ITT later this year and put together a Wasatch route that I've been looking at for a while...

Ah yes Shirey, I believe that we met as I was coming up the worn in trail after missing the turn to Dave's version of a trail...

Awesome video Nick. It was great running into you out there. I'm stoked to make another run at it this year. Hope to see you at the campfire...Scott

Based on ride time, I'd say thenough win goes to mike. Great ride! I have to get the photos off my old phone and add a few.

Great photos Mike. Sorry I missed you out there. We should ride sometime.

I made it home and am starting to feel normal again. The 8 hour drive home yesterday was tough. I am going to enjoy this great fall weather and get out for a night ride this evening.
The Coconino 250 was an amazing experience that challenged me both physically and mentally. It was a good stepping stone for the AZTR 300 in April. A few highs and lows along the way...
Highs
The views and riding in Sedona
Lime Kiln
Breakfast in Cottonwood
Descending off Mingus
Riding into Williams
Snickers Ice Cream Bar at the Texaco on I40
Fall colors on AZT
Every sunrise and sunset
Meeting new friends
Lows
Parting ways with Chris at sunset when he went to find his tracker
Route finding in the dark outside Sedona
Mingus
Camping up high night 2
Bill Williams
Sycamore Rim
Descending and route finding in the dark on the moto trails coming into Flagstaff
I did a 3 stage version. I started and stopped my clock when I started and finished riding each day as opposed to the stages.
Day 1 13:14:09 79.6 miles
Day 2 13:56:53 78.7 miles
Day 3 13:47:57 85.8 miles
Total 40:58:59 (I think) 244.1 miles
Thanks for the great route. Maybe I'll race it again, maybe I'll tour it. Either way, I'll be back to Coconino!

Forgot to mention for those of you in Williams that the text I at 40 is alive and well. No need to filter and the end of that gem of a trail know. As sycamore rim.

I ended up deciding to make a 3 day attempt while at breakfast on Friday. I wrapped it up a couple of hours ago and I have to say that 3 days is really tough. I'll figure out my total time in the next day or so, but kept track of moving time and didn't check at the stage start and stops. It was an amazing ride and really tough. I finished with shoes that were duct taped to my feet and a soft rear tire in the dark. Maybe next time I'll tour...

I just checked in and have a spare queen bed about 3 blocks from the place. Weather is beautiful and I can't wait for 7 am.

I'm basically ready to roll out tomorrow morning for Flagstaff. My travelling partner had to bail which leaves me with a spare bed tomorrow night. If anyone is looking for an inexpensive ($40) room about a block from The Place, let me know. I may be looking to split a room in Williams and again in Flag on monday night.

Let's hope the trails dry out by friday morning!

I've been wanting to do this for a couple of years now. I'm hoping that everything comes together this year. It looks like I've got the time off work, if only the weather will hold. Really looking forward to this.

Great report. I wish I had snapped more photos along the way but now I can refer to this report as a reminder of how beautiful this ride is. I have to say that the ice cream bars and comes that I enjoyed with Scott, Mike and Jason at the trading post were some of the best I ever tasted after baking on thunder mountain. There's also a good plentiful spigots at the tropic campground. If you roll into panguitch lake after the general store is closed, there is water available in the lot 24 hours.
If anyone is looking for a nice fall tour, check out the Dixie Lite in lateSeptember or early October. Beautiful colors and you can get dinner and beer in hatch and panguitch lake.

This looks like a great route and I'm hoping to make it to the grand depart this year.

I have a feeling we're going to have a pretty good turn out next year with all the great feedback from this year. If the weather is decent I'm guessing the record will fall. After learning so much this year, I can't wait to make a run at a decent time.
