It would also help to know where you are going bikepacking. Temps and weather change what I pack pretty significantly.

Used a few (less than 5) times - yellow/black color scheme. I would say it is in excellent condition. Looks just like the picture on Wingnut's site except the blue parts are yellow on mine and the gray parts are black. Coordinated quite nicely with my Webcyclery kit.
Why am I selling? Well, just don't use it much and have a daughter heading off to college. Going to use the money to buy Ramen noodles in bulk as that is all I will be able to afford for the next eight years (she is eyeing med school).
$90 shipped to continental US.
I will try to post pics later - camera issues.

Forums / Question and Answer / Help Finding Trail Website - With GPS files and Google Earth
|

My computer died and I lost one of my favorite route planning links. It was to a website that showed trails on a google earth display and you could click on the trails to download the tracks. So far my search attempts have not resulted in finding it. I thought it was something like Red Trails but that isn't getting me anything useful. Help?

You can catch trails from Three Creeks to Todd Lake, although the road route would be less climbing. Plan on Bunchgrass taking more time unless it has been ridden more than last time I was on it.
After trying to figure out a good loop similar to this route I am going to do something different. Too many miles on roads for me.

Did you ever get up to ride it?
There are a few changes I would recommend. First would be to consider reversing direction. Going up Bunchgrass would not be fun. Also, there are some more trails to consider to reduce road time. I would bypass Sunriver and catch the Deschutes River trail out of town, then Storm King and the new trails up to Wanoga and over to Edison snow park. Then over to Lava Lake and FS roads to Cultus Lake.

+1 on the MSR Sweetwater. After longingly staring at old cow troughs at the Antelope Peak Challenge when I lost most of my water I now carry tablets where ever I take my pack.

I just bought a Wenzel Starlight for $20. Using some old carbon arrows for poles and aluminum gutter spikes for stakes it is down to 1.63 pounds. I have less than $40 into it. The packed size would be dependent on how long you made your replacement poles.

I believe he is referring to a bmx-type chain tensioner, like the surly tuggnutt, but for that you need horizontal dropouts. THerefore, to go SS with vertical dropouts, you need a "spring loaded" tensioner like the singleator. Good luck on your clunker! be sure to post pictures You can also use a derailuer fixed to the middle of its travel range. Road ones are lighter.
