have to say i'm not a fan after 4 of them breaking on the divide and one putting me on my face, however i do like carrying small loads on the fork legs, working on a divide worthy fork leg rack on my own design
I'm really hoping that this is maybe bad weld prep or a QC issue more than anything. I'm finding it hard to believe that the Salsa crew didn't run into this during testing as much as they tend to abuse things when they are riding. |

The design is poor. There is no meat to the structure where the formed rod attached to the sheetmetal bridge that attaches to bike frame or fork bosses. The slot, intended to retain a strap, is a nice design feature, but it kills the fatigue strength. |

Attach with no fewer than three hose clamps around the cage itself (in addition to or instead of the attachment tabs). They're road bike worthy at best.
Now, those Porcelain Rocket AC Bags...they go the distance : )

Interesting.... I just contacted Salsa today about 2 of my Anything cages cracking at or near the welds. Then I got digging through the interwebz and found these cages are having lots of issues. Wish I found this forum earlier.
Anything Cages, great concept, implemented poorly? Bad on Salsa.
My cages lasted less than 800 miles of backroads touring (lots of washboards) with no more than 4 pounds on either one. They were attached to a Fargo fork.

What has Salsa been doing in regards to customer service. My wife grabbed me two for V-day and now I am just expecting them to break.

I contacted Salsa a day ago regarding my broken cages. I got a reply back from Salsa today. So it looks like the Anything Cages have a three year warranty. Salsa indicated to me that they do have a new version coming out this coming Spring. They offered to warranty my cages but that they won't have replacements available till sometime after April. I'll just have to work with a local QBP or Salsa dealer to get the issue taken care of. I do wonder how many of us with broken/cracked cages actually contacted Salsa. If you do have a broken one, I'd urge you to contact them too. I always figure the more a manufacturer actually knows about a possible defect in their product the better able they might be able to address the issue on a larger scale. Perhaps the new cages coming out is that address??? I have seen several forum entries here and elsewhere regarding broken Anything cages but haven't seen that anyone actually contacted Salsa about it, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
FWIW, I've contacted Salsa several other times in the past regarding totally different issues. They have always provided very helpful and prompt replies.

I have 2 Anything Cages and, instead of running them until they break, I am thinking of chopping off everything but the 3-bolt spine and using this as a basis for a mount point for MYOG fabric fork bags similar to those listed above.
My idea was an elongated homemade dry bag with a roll top that would have some stiffness/body and have the 3-bolt Anything spine sewn into it.
Not sure what to sandwich in the fabric to give it some stiffness and shape. I have some thin, flexible plastic sheet and I some 1/4-inch closed cell foam. Maybe use one or both of these materials? Any ideas/opinions?
The fabric I have is 1000 denier Cordura for the outside and silnylon for the inside.

You started the thread back a couple of years ago. Did you ever use the older version that some in this thread apparently had problems with? If so, any noticeable differences with the newer ones? |

Yes. I snapped 2 on at our in NZ a couple of winters ago. The new ones seem fine. Held my food in some Porcelain Rocket bags. They are substantially beefier. I have not heard of anyone breaking the new version.
