Keep in mind that you will need to add the Basic Service Plan ($100/yr) + the Track Progress feature ($50 a year). No monthly plan.

Trackleaders rent them at around $25 including service for the entire time you'll be racing the TD.

That's a great price

I purchased mine a month or so ago and on my longer trainer rides I use it. It's nice that my wife and friends can check on my whereabouts and
it keeps me going knowing that someone is watching me. Kind of a weird feeling in some ways...

Best Buy is a horrible, horrible company and I will never do business with them again.

I completely agree... As tempting as it is to save $40, I won't risk it...  Last time I purchased a sale item through Best Buy it too said it would ship out in 5-7 business days.  A month later it was still not in stock, and shortly after that, they automatically cancelled my order without telling me...  I'd be very weary of the 5-7 day timeline listed.  If it said "in stock" then maybe, just maybe...

I think it might be a little more than 25 now that Scott has upgraded to the the Spot2, still a sweet deal though.  Scott will have to confirm

Yeah, it depends on the length of the event, and yep, we are having to cover the cost of upgrading to SPOT2's.  For the Stagecoach 400 this weekend the rental price is $40.

Is the Spot 2 the same physical size? How much is the rental for CTR?

This is a great service you are providing for so many races!

Scott,

If you're interested, I've been speaking with Gloria Jean at Satellite Phone Solutions and she would like to talk to you guys at Trackleaders about supplementing your rental units and working together to cover events when you need extra units.

Here's a link to their unit and they seem really interested in working with Trackleaders... http://www.satellitephonesolutions.com/rental/sps-rental-program/sps-spot-rental.htm

She would like to talk with you when you have some time... would it be ok to PM her email address and phone number to you?

I would agree. Yet I ordered one and got it for $34.99 cause it came 3 days later than they promised! I did not even pester them that it was late just saw the discounted price when I picked it up and asked why it was less?

Spot 2 is much smaller and at least half the weight.
