My name is Nate and I live in Central Utah.  I'm new to bike packing and excited to get out this year. Seeing as I have limited sewing experience I decided to make my own packs. Here is my first attempt. I love para cord so I am going to be incorporating it into all of my packs. This one uses the para cord as a tensioning device between the seat post and headtube that helps keep the pack upright and more stable. I still have to finnish where the para chord ties to the seat post, it's just dangling there for now. For the pack, I used a very durable synthetic canvas awning material called Sunbrella. It's one of the best materials available for outdoor awnings and is used in marine applications alot and doesn't fade in the sun. It's breathable but keeps the water out very well due to the extremely tight weave. I'm going to try it like it is but if it needs to be more waterproof I can treat it on the inside with silicone caulk thinned down with acetone or mineral spirits. The pack is covered in dust and Dog hair ( damn shedding pets!  icon_biggrin ) so it's a bit dirty looking even though I just made it haha. Anyway, so far the pack works awesome and it was very satisfying designing and fabricating this myself. Just Took a few hours.
