I hope Chris Tompkins can clear some questions I have on the October ride. Is this going clockwise or counterclockwise around the loop? Are Tandems ok? I was hoping to do this on our Tandem. glasses2

Thanks,
Chris

"Scott,

Please add (to the calendar) the inaugural Allegheney Mountains Loop . The first-ever "group" ITT leaving from the Virginia Tech campus at 8:00am on Friday October 5th 2012.  This TD-like route will feature 400 miles of gravel, rail-trail and some pavement with more than 25,000 feet of climbing.  And as an added bonus... it's during "peak" fall foliage along the Virginia/West Virginia border.

Let's celebrate another great ACA "fat tire" route and make the "AML" a challenge that can be a stepping stone for Tour Divide-aspiring, east-coast bikepackers.

Toe(ing) the line ...

Check out here: http://alleghenymountainsloop.blogspot.com/2012/01/allegheny-mountains-loop-2012.html

Clockwise for the bikepacking version with the Ridge Alternate and Mountain Lake alternates after getting past Glady and going SB.

I'm planning to ITT it in late May.  Training is going well, hopefully I'll be in good shape.

@Firedog62 ...

A tandem ride of AML would be terrific.

Your time (and effort) would be recorded and referenced as an ITT on a Tandem bicycle.

To make it simpler for everyone to follow one thread I'm going to try and lock this thread. So please follow the other thread at
