Hi.  I'll be riding with two of my friends, covering Wateree to Awendaw over 4 or 5 days.  We're coming from North Atlanta Monday Dec 5th 2011.  We're lookin for a pickup on Friday Dec 9th 2011 in Awendaw using our vehicle that we can leave in Columbia or, alternatively, picking a person up that lives in around Columbia, get them to ride down to Awendaw with us and drop us off, and then take our car back to Columbia.  I've got $60, possibly a more for your time.  This would be driving our minivan or subaru outback...

Thank you for any responses.

I'd post on the Midlands Sorba FB page also. There are quite a few people that live between COlumbia and the coast that seem to look and post there.

Did you have any luck finding a shuttle?  I'm looking for options too.

There was no shuttle love for 2011.  I found that the ride was probably too short for the amount of shuttling we had to do.  We came up with three options.  Ride to the Start-Finish on the road, hitchhike, or of course take two cars and do too much driving...

Looking to maybe extend the trip length to justify all the transportation.  Holla. GL

I've come to a similiar conclusion...no practicle shuttle without bringing two cars.

I found two other possible, though not practicle to me, options.  One is to ride into Charleston and take the Greyhound back to Columbia.  They have 3 trips a day for $30 but your bike has to be boxed and you have to ride from and to both bus stations.  The other is to have Enterprise Rent A Car deliver a vehicle to the trail end from the Charleston airport and drive it to the Columbia airport.  Those two locations will do a oneway rental but the cheapest vehicle that will carry a bike is about $150 per day after the oneway fee!

I'll be waiting to coordinate with some others or until we hear about a shuttle service.

We are going to be doing parts of the Palmetto Trail on the Weekend of January 28 and 29. We will be camping at Moncks Corner on Lake Moultrie. We are going to be shuttled to Awendaw Saturday Morning and riding to the lake about 65 to 70 miles, camping and then on Sunday we are riding around the lake utilizing the Palmetto Trail and the Dike system for another 60 miles. Two days of fun. If interested let me know and I can give more details...
