Looking for some people who are contemplating riding the Great divide next summer.

I plan to ride out of Eureka, Mt going southbound end of July.

I am excluding Canada (awesome section) due to family obligations.  ( next year)!

My plan is to camp as much as possible without carrying a lot of stuff.
I am going ultralight with the addition of a stove and extra food.

I am a long time resident of western Montana and have backpacked in
Montana and NW Wyoming this is some of the best wilderness/mountains the US has to offer.

Drop me a reply as to your ideas.

Steve

It is tempting to push my departure date back. There are 2 full moons in July, one on the 2nd and the other near the 30th/31st. It'd sure be great to ride with a native of the area.

I'm currently planning on starting Sobo from Banff on July 23 or 24 - still working our summer schedule out. Maybe see you on the trial!

I am planning on starting in Banff around the same time dp is (+- a couple days perhaps).
I've got one definite (90%+) and one waning probable (75% and falling) ride partners right now.

I'm sure I'll know more as the months progress and everything gets nailed down.

Steve,

I am going to do it this summer as well, and your timeframe would work I think. Do you still live in Montana?

Terry,

Good Evening!

I purchased a Salsa Fargo 2 2013 model
from a guy here in LA.

after doing a lot of research reading listening to everyone i was drawn to Salsa and Surly

I decided to go with the Fargo so from what I have read it is a great bike.

This is my first 29er and it certainly rolls really nice.

I am acquiring gear throughout the winter and am planning to do some bike packing in late winter early spring with all of the gear.

This new to me as I have cycled for years mountain bike road bikes and did some touring when I was younger
also a lot of backpacking.

I am excited for the ride and should be interesting to say the least.

Stay in touch

Happy Holidays to you and your family
