Diana: Has Tyson said what he liked best about riding the Divide? Question from RootingforEveryone.
We got to spend some time and talk to Tyson about his experience for a couple hours, and I must say, he had us laughing so much. So from my perception, I believe the relationships with the others riders he met, those people he met in the stores and restaurants that were so welcoming to the TourDivide riders and a few he met along the roads (the TD "stalkers") was part of the very favorite things. He also spent some time telling us about this awesome TD rider~~~~~Matthew Lee, who he felt like he was with royalty:-) He couldn't say enough wonderful things about the hospitality of Matthew and everyone.
It was great to hear about Matthew from Tyson and their visit one on one together before everyone else showed up, that was one of his favorite times.
He still finds it hard to believe he did this. His boss asked him "when did you feel you where in over your head?" and Tyson said "about three hours into it!!" It was a life changing event for him and he made friendships I believe will be there for years to come.
Thanks to all of the riders for sharing their stories and their ride with him!! Diana

Late congratulations to Aaron, Louis, Mel, and Gary!! What a ride you all did. So happy Tyson could share some of his time with all of you.
Also to Michael, you are almost there, good luck and safe travels!!
Mike Dion is screening Reveal the Path tonight at the Egyptian Theater in Boise Idaho!! Tyson had tickets, haven't heard if he was able to get home in time to go, but both him and Amy were going to try and make it. Norb D. is there also, who did the TD last year, also from Boise.
It has been great to learn about all the riders!

Well, here I am again just wanting to say how in awe I am of ALL the riders who decided to try to do this race. I think that wanting to race 2745 miles in itself is saying something about the people who decide "This is something that I can do". It is heartbreaking to see those that had to leave for injuries, illness and mechanical or family problems, or job issues after making that decision. You are all Number 1 in my book. I think that is what makes this such a special race, it is in deciding to do it, that separates so many people from those who want to but never make that first mile.
To those that have finished and will finish, what a great accomplishment, whether you did it in 16 + days or 4-5 or 6 weeks. It has been exciting to track all of you as you started your TD 12 race, both the North bound and South bound riders. You gave us "armchair racers" a little look into the race and it would get very emotional watching from home, running to the computer to check everyone's progress over the last month!!
Thank you to all you great road warriors, you came, you conquered!!! And to those that did not finish this time, you started and that is the point:-)
Good luck to those still on the road, and I will be watching until all are finished.
You are all hero's in my eyes, thanks again for a great ride:-)
Diana

Pretty sure that Tyson, Aaron and Louis are all in Antelope Wells. Don't have absolute confirmation but I know they were 30 miles away about 1 1/2 hours ago!!!!!!! their trackers aren't updating.
Way to go guys!!!!!

Congratulations to the riders who finishes in the last day and night we know from some calls from our son that the storms have been incredible with heavy winds and rain. He has had to take shelter wherever to get out of the lightening which has really slowed him down some. Looks like he will finish on Monday even though he wanted to get done today. He still needs to get to Silver City Awesome, awesome ride Tyson Stay safe, watch out for the goatheads coming up too. Safe travels to those still out there by him, the Ohio guys!!! Aaron H. And Louis N. Diana

So happy for the racers who finished on the 4th of July, what a great day to be able to finish on, for many reasons!! All I see is storms and more storms coming, hoping Tyson was able to pick up some warmer clothing somewhere or he will have more hours of wet cold riding ahead. He is pushing to be done asap. It is taking him longer than he thought, but I would imagine for Rookie, he is learning a lot about this ride and would make different choices next time Overall, he is doing an amazing ride Good luck to all still riding and so happy for those who have finished!! I am a lifelong resident of SW New Mexico. Luck, or the Gods, or pure Chance, plays a disproportionate part in the TD, and the final results are often skewed because of this. Those riders that hit the ferocious headwinds in Wyoming will attest to their effects. Here in New Mexico, if you hit the Gila country just wrong, rain and storms will play havoc with your progress. Then, if you weren't blessed to hit New Mexico before the heat and winds here, you were penalized disproportionately again by the weather. The temps after leaving Silver City have been from 106 to 108, however the moon has been bright enough to ride at night the last few nights. A black bear was hit and killed by a truck on the Interstate at Separ last week. Can you believe that? You never know what it will be your lot to encounter. That is part of what makes the TD such a great challenge and accomplishment. So what do you do? Go SB or go NB. Push through the night or resupply and get some rest. The early finishers rolled the dice, they had the physical ability to hit things right, and their equipment held up. My congratulations to all of the participants. I hauled some to Antelope Wells and have given rides to some finishers. You are all WINNERS. Tyson texted from Cuba, he "got caught in a serious mountain storm and am wet to the bone". He plans to spend the night in Cuba. There are others there so they will all be wet. He was in a rain and hail storm the other day. Hope the rain goes toward the fires!! Diana

Congratulations to the latest finishers, how exciting to be at the end of the race to welcome them done and to help them all celebrate!!! Wish we could be there for all the ones who cross the line.
To those that had to leave due to illness, sure would like to know how you are all recovering!! Praying for total recovery!!!
Ride safe to all those still riding.

Update on Tyson Fahrenbruck, he went through rain and hail today for about 40+ miles, took a long time as it was so cold and of course, he shipped his warm clothing home:-(
Congrats to all the finishers today. I love what Serge said too and it made it seem as special as it must have been. Stay safe to all the riders still riding.
I was wondering what happened to this site as it was unavailable to us all day, wondering where everyone was!!
Take care, Diana

Congratulations to all those that have finished this huge race!! Whether men or women (although I have to say I am totally blown away by the great women in this year's ride!!), it has been great fun to watch everyone as their blue dot keeps going, and what a hard thing to watch when it is the person you are watching, their blue dot doesn't work. Our son, Tyson Fahrenbruck's was not working for 3 days and they were long days for us at home. He is tracking well now and it has been an experience to see how far he has come. He said he has met the best people all along the route and has been enjoying riding with many of them.
He stayed in the doll house from the TD movie that Mary stayed in and said he was grateful for the roof over his head as it was pouring rain:-)
Good luck to everyone riding tomorrow, hope all goes well and that the ride can continue and not be closed due to the awful fires everywhere.
Oh, I have to tell you a funny story. I have been so inspired by Tyson, that I took my bike in (haven't ridden in about 5 years and then only a tiny bit) got the bike back yesterday all spruced up and air in the tires, all oiled and ready to go~~~~~~took me 20 minutes to get it into the back of my Sequoia, I had to rest 2 times, LOL, so now I know that doing the TD at my age is not something that will happen. But my heart is there!!

Congratulations to all the new finishers, and to Cjell how awesome is that to be surprised by your dad. What a great story he added to the whole adventure, all without a helmet. As a mom, I have to say that is a little scary but what freedom there is in riding without one Good luck to all the riders still riding and it is still fun to watch everyone as they come in one by one!! Thanks to everyone who is still posting pictures and writing in about the riders. Our son< Tyson has his new tracker working so we can follow him again and that makes it more fun for us here at home. He is doing so awesome and seems to get stronger everyday!! Way to go Ty, ride your ride and have fun, Diana
