I know quite a few people deal with sores. Hopefully your experience can help some others Marshall.

Here are some articles about this year's tour.  The Cannondale press release mentions Blaine as 3rd place rather than a shared 2nd place with Erik.

I don't want to detract from Matt Lee's incredible accomplishment in the Tour Divide, nor minimize the difficulties and tragedy in this year's race, but a friend sent me this and it made me smile. It was just too good not to share.

British fans might mistake the second photo for a production still of an as-yet-to-be-released spinoff of the BBC TV series Torchwood (who's main character is an immortal, indestructible time traveler).  Perhaps Matt was riding the divide before there even _was_ a divide?  That's why he's so good...

It's cool to zoom into the trackleader satellite image to get an idea of the terrain. In checking out Patrick's spot, today I've seen and learned about El Malpais - lava flow terrain that looks like a large black blob on the Earth's surface. And I just noticed that he crossed a large dike - type of igneous intrusion - that's about 12 miles long! Pretty cool terrain.  glasses2

Dave T's wife here, thinking his tracker must be low on batteries, what a bummer, last day and all! I can watch the group finish, imagining he is in there somewhere!

Agh!  I've been watching Dave day and night and it's killing me not to see his dot move!  Have you heard from him to confirm he's on the move with the group?  I'm hoping he's with them.

Cool, I have ben cheering for Dave since I got home. I got to spend the end of day one and most of day two with Dave, we shared a bunch of stories and room in Elkford with the super clean hotel manager that made us go out in the pouring rain to wash our bikes before taking them into our room. That was after we promised to lay down a large tarp to set the bikes on. The manager reminded me of the crazy preacher in the movie " chuck and larry " if that helps set the scene. We were so even in stride we figured we would end up finishing together until i ran into my issues near the end of day 2. Dave is A great guy! It is great to see him finnish! Congrats in advance!

Almost done for the 'pack'.

At this point they most likely do not care about food, little about water, in fact if the wind is not blowing they might be wishing for those rain clouds the radar shows off to their right to shift their way and come dump a little water on them.
Wash off all the dust, miles, fatigue etc

At least thats the way I was feeling and it was the only time I deliberately let myself get soaked, it was great

Congrats to all!!

Hi, Shawn Sheppard here.  Two things--

First, I wanted to make sure my finish time is noted correctly since my call-in was incorrect due to my wife's Tucson rental car clock being set an hour early.  I touched the border at 3:07 am on July 4.

Second, a point of pride.  With Cricket's finish imminent, the Carolinas are 4 for 4!  Granted, Matthew was a gimme, but I'm still proud of the strong showing!  We grow 'em tough down here Smiley

Just posted some final thoughts from Cricket Butler and Stephen Huddle. Cricket mentions getting a flight back to Whitefish? Maybe she's confused or is she going back to Whitefish?
