In the tradition of Self Supported Racing Riders will line up at the Paisley MTB trailhead at 6am to take on a 170 mile or so course.  Following similar rules and guidelines that we are all familiar with, riders will navigate this undulating course and attempt to finish it in record time.

I would say the course is more like the Tour Divide, in regards, that its a combination  of single track, double track, forest roads, canal roads, rail trails, pavement and dirt roads.

All information can be found on at

Or

The course links Ocala National Forest to Withlacoochee state forest and its really a one of a kind experience.

Anyone interested in participating send a letter of intent to nakedindian99 at aol dot com.

Thanks,

Karlos

Thanks for posting this, Karlos.  I won't make it this year, but will look forward to watching and hearing about this one.  Sounds like trackleaders.com will be covering it.

Do you have any plans to grow the route to be any longer, or will it stay at about the same length?

I added it to the Ultra Racing calendar, too.

Actually Scott, there is a LOOP, that starts and ends in Paisley.

Once we GPX it we will put it up next year for the sake of racing an bikepacking.

There is a lots of untapped potential out here in terms of off road routes, but the routes out here are more like what you would do on the GDR with fire roads and service roads and double track and forest roads mixed in with singletrack.  Unfortunately, we do not have enough landscape to do a route that would be longer then 50 miles that would not require the addition of those other off road elements.

The Loop we are putting together we call it "the eye of the hurricane" because of the whole Florida Hurricane connection.  The only part we dont like is you got to do about 50 miles on bike path, but bike path/rail trail is better than road riding right!

Lots of fun and Scott if you ever wanna check out Florida I got a place for you to crash!

The event was a success.

I am almost done with my write up for those who want to be bored senseless..LOL..

I will give you a quick run down.

7 racers started, within the first 44 miles only 4 were left.

by the 102 mile mark only three were left.

At the 171 mile mark only two were left.

Myself and Bryan Frantz came in together tied for first place at 25 hours and 37 minutes for 177 miles.

New course record and I also got the Fixed Gear Course record for the run.

I will post up once my blog write up is complete, I currenlty have only the first and second parts up.

Thanks again to Track Leaders for their support and letting us use the SPOT units, It felt really cool to know that I was being watched from above..  a Dream come true.

I have never ridden that many miles straight, never ridden more then 80 miles fixed gear, so it was an EPIC adventure to say the least.

here was my fixed gear set up for the race:

You can catch parts one and two now, click link in my signature..
