I know, everybody use a saddlebag (myself included) BUT i am thinking since a long time to build a lightweight carbon fiber rear rack to use on my road bike. I would strap a waterproof compression bag onto it like i do sometime on more rugged bikes. It is a bit of an experiment. It would be interesting to know how light it could be.

Now, Would carbon fiber arrow shafts be a good material to start with?  It seem difficult to find weight of those shaft. Any idea what the weight is (for a lenght)?

Any experience joining carbon tubing?

Thanks!

I have been looking for replacement tent poles for my Eureka Midori Solo tent. The stock ones and fly add a lot to the weight of the tent. I like the tent, just not the overall weight. So I looked at carbon tent poles. That would be where I'd start.

Check out hobby shops that specialize in radio control planes and quadcopters.

One of my local shops also does mail order. Here are the Carbon Tubes that are hollow. There is also options for solid. Pull down the arrow selectors to see the different sizes (OD/ID).
