I'm thinking of making my own bags for bikepacking so I'm wondering if anyone in the Denver or Boulder area have a set of Revelate Designs,CDW or similar bags I could take a look at and measure make notes of materials placement of straps etc etc.I'll buy beers and/or lunch for your time and trouble.

Anyone else see an ethical dilemma here? Help me reverse engineer someone else's design?

the idea is to get a starting point to work from not make a dead on copy.pretty much all of my sewing experience is limited to mending things not constructing them.I have some ideas on how the different materials go together but would like to see a tried and true design up close to confirm or deny these ideas. I plan on making the seat bag design quite a bit different in attachment and placement. I'd just like to see what materials are being used in the attachment areas, get a better idea of how the compression straps work on something that's fixed to a bike's seatpost or handlebars rather than on my good old freestanding compression sack.I'd bet that most of the folks who've made their own bags probably looked at some pre-existing designs first. also these would be for my personal use not for sale. so no I don't feel any ethical crisis here. if you do then don't let me look at your bags.

I would start here: http://bikepathwarrior.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-build-seat-bag.html (as I did) and use it and see what you would change from there.

don't plan on #1 being your only one Cheesy

Maybe, if he planned on going into business selling knock-offs. But I don't think that it's a big deal to seek inspiration and ideas for building a one-off bag for personal use.

I am in Idaho Springs and have a frame bag by Jeremy11. It is as nice as the big boys but half the price and I waited only a few days for the thing. It was made for a 2011 Specialized Stumpy HT 29er but that bike got warrantied into a 2011 Voodoo Canzo. I modded the Stumpy bag and it fit perfectly into the Canzo. Jeremy really understands bag tension and zipper tension. Heck I would buy the Jeremy bag over the other guys in a heartbeat. It would cost me more than $75  for materials and labor anyway.

You can come by and check mine out anytime Bikepunk. I have some other sweet mods to some basic gear (Novara seat bag for instance) to make them function just like the expensive stuff.
