Since many of us like taking videos of our bike trips, what do you use to mount the camera off-bike? As far as I can tell, a tripod is the only reliable option, but I haven't found any that are appropriately light to carry on a bike.

These are the lightest I have found other than the mini tabletop types such as the Gorilla Pod.

This is what I use and it has performed great. It works well with a Gopro or point and shoot (Canon s95) but would not do so well with a DSLR.

I also have one of these but it is a bit bulky and not nearly as light. You can strap them to things like tree limbs which can be handy for creative shots.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions.

greenwater, interesting mount. I made a coke can stove which I need to practice with. I was hoping for something that could get the camera above the thick vegetation where I live.

MidSouth, I read that review of the zipshot too (on dpreview.com) but it seems many commenters complain it's flimsy. But, thinking about it, I don't need all 4 sections of legs, I could probably get away with 2. On a bike you have to make compromises. Maybe I'll give it a try.

i like the zipshot. use it with my canon g12. the shorter one.
it can move around a bit. for still photos i use a remote trigger, or set the timer for 4 seconds, if i'm doing along exposure.
but for general use, i don't worry about it.

you can 'wedge' it by splaying the legs a bit, as they do have some spring to them.
and i imagine you could hang a bag or weight on it if you could rig up some sort of hook.
