Anyone know if the route from Banff on the GDMBR is decent enough to drive for a bit? My folks are going to meet me in Banff and the old man isn't in shape to ride but loves to drive and is interested in doing a sag wagon for a few days. Thanks.

Much of the Canadian portion of the route is either on trails or closed roads in National or Provincial Parks, or the roads are rough and/or poorly connected, so it wouldn't be possible for a vehicle to follow you. If you had a way of communicating, it might be possible to meet up at points along the route, but there are bound to be places where a vehicle won't easily reach you, particularly if it lacks good off-road capabilities.

South of the border into Montana is a bit better, but the route often follows some rugged roads and terrain. Knowledge of local road conditions and good communication between rider and driver would be invaluable.

You could meet at several points along the CDN GDR route, but as noted above he couldn't follow the route with you. If you wanted to meet up at the end of each day that wouldn't be too hard except maybe in the Flathead area depending on how fast you ride.
