We're going bikepacking next weekend. And since I say "we," that means you're invited. Yipee! If you live in Arizona and want ride some dirt roads, ATV trails, and a bit of singletrack on Sat-Sun Oct 27-28, read on. There's a small group (5 right now?) that will be leaving Prescott mid-morning Saturday, riding over through Skull Valley, and camping in the no-man's land beyond to the west. It'll be low key with <40 miles per day. And we'll have a big fire. You'll also get to drink tasty cattle tank water! So you should come, even if you've never been bikepacking before. I think 3 of the 5 we currently have going will be on their first overnight bike trip.

PM me if you're interested and I'll keep you in the loop.

Krefs,

I am all the way out in Northern California so I won't be making it but kudos for being willing to broadcast an open invite trip.  It can be intimidating for newcomers to the sport to take that first trip out alone.  That you are willing to offer to bring new folks in speaks to the kind of people we have in this community.

Aslan, like you say, I thought this would be a great way to try to get some more people out bikepacking. I know a lot of folks who want to get out there, but just haven't pulled the trigger on multi-day rides quite yet. We'll how many of them show up!

Owtdorz, I'm not sure what group you're speaking of. I haven't posted on MTBR in years, so I doubt there's been any mention of this ride there.

Cool! That's a fun loop, although bikepacking kits in the Dells would be a bit of a struggle. Aside from that, you should have a relaxing couple days. Enjoy!

Thanks to the 3 brave participants from down in the Valley that joined us for a short trip. The route ended up being a bit steeper (up and down) than planned, but who can beat camping a mile up a wash from a diner that opens at 7 am on their first bikepacking trip? I'll try to organize another one of these sometime over the winter or in early Spring. Let me know if you want me to keep you in the loop.

Keep me in the loop Kurt, my only planned rides are AES related. Just need to clear time with the training coordinator.

Check out my last blog post - krefs.blogspot.com. The area we went is not stereotypical Prescott riding - it was lower elevation and more rugged than most of the local trails.
