I haven't got a chance to write up a trip report yet. Been having too much fun video editing:

Edit: here's the video and a map: http://greenecasey.blogspot.com/2012/09/bikepacking-mccalls-hot-springs.html

Looks like some sweet stuff. I was up in that area boating years ago, never got to any hot springs tho. Looking forward to seeing your route: miles, loop, shuttle?

Ya Tim, ill probably get around to making a map and trip report next week. Fires really busted up our plans. The first route i wanted to do, around the Sawtooths, including Stanley, Ketchum and the White Cloud Mtns, was out of the question weeks ago. And this, our plan B, got cut in half because of 2 new fires that spring up while we were out riding. Smoke got so bad I couldn't say 4 words without sneezing, and ive never had allergies.

So, it ended up being a 4 day loop. No resupply except for dinner at Burgdorf HS. (and me and Mickey traded for beers to clean their pools) Wink

Milage is tricky with these kind of trips. The first day was suppose to be easy. Just 15 miles. But, ended up probably being one of the hardest. Id guess we hiked, carried and drug our bikes at least half that distance. Longest day was 50mi. About 20 of that singletrack. Tried to keep the whole trip as easy as possible, but still getting to those hot springs in enough time to enjoy them. And, enough time to fish.

Great video. Your Cousin Greg sent it to me. I have been trying to talk him into going BP'ing with me. All he wants to do is ride his road bike and drink espresso.

Nice video!
Looks like beautiful country.
How cold was it?
The Hot Springs must feel great after a long day in the saddle!

Thanks!

Yep CCB, i guess that's how its done. Well, unless we're counting on catching dinner. Then, I think you're the one showing how its done. Envy that pan you carry. thumbsup

jah: Every night the lows were in the high 30's or colder. The coldest beng in the mid-high 20's.
And man, you said it, there's nothing that feels better after a hard day in the mountains then hot springs.

Watched the video 2 time in row!

Some of the stands of timber look like prime forest fire material....dead and deader.

I think we are going to assume that the chair was found at the campsite!

Thanks guys.

Ya jhl, there were like 3 or 4 of them there. It was a kinda weird spot. Think it might have been a hunting camp or something. Along with the chairs there was a wood stove all setup on rocks, just out in the open.

Tim, didn't really have anything else to say in terms of a trip report, but i did make a rough map that has some rough milages on it:
