Rohloff in a BB more or less no? Still unfortunately hella heavy though. The BB is probably a better place to put all that weight, better than way out in the rear hub. I've got a Rohoff, so I can attest to how great the shifting/reliability is. They just gotta get the weight down on these types of drivetrains. It'll be interesting to follow the advancement of these things.

They will never match the efficiency of a derailleur system, which is essentially a stripped down gearbox with no shell.

However I think they will offer a lot for certain uses like transportation and other "non-sporting" bikes.

Nicolai built a fat bike with one, which could be a pretty ultimate bikepacking bike.
