Fun!  Prototyping this kind of thing and figuring out how to make it work is great.
Try a flexible cutting board for the stiffener, or maybe some foam stiffener (?)

Here is my seat bag write up.  I just made seat bag V2 this weekend since this one sticks up in the back a little high.  V2 just changed the angle at the seatpost a bit, trimmed a little off the top of the cutting board further back, and came out better aesthetically.  I haven't tested V2 yet but it should be fine.  I haven't decided yet if or how I'm going to connect the cutting board to the bag.

Thanks for the link! I ended up using a piece of plastic on the bottom of the bag to keep it from bending down. I wouldn't be worried about it except that it's going on a full suspension and I don't want the tire hitting the bag. I haven't decided if I'm going to sew the plastic in or not.

I'll probably sew some velcro onto the cutting board and onto the bag so it is stabilized but removable.

Thanks for the link. This is really useful.  thumbsup thumbsup . Well, I've been looking for bike bags in Clapham common shops ever since but with this I know I don't need a new bag. LOL
