Hi all,

My name is Dustin Anderson. I am the director of Bike Shorts Film Festival in Vancouver Canada. A friend of mine (who is a fan of your work) directed me to your website.

Bike Shorts is a short film festival that celebrates the bicycle and the people who ride it. In 2009 the Festival will start in Vancouver then go to Calgary and Winnipeg. There is room for more cities to join in as well.

The goal of the festival is to build community with short eclectic film of all cycling genres and raise money for cycling advocacy in each hosting community.

BOTTOM LINE

Do you have short films of your exploits? and if so would you be interested in submitting them to our festival?

Email me if you have any questions or would like to know about grants available.

Thanks,

Dustin Anderson

Hi,

Thanks for the post.  I'd love to see a film on bikepacking, or perhaps try our hand at producing one.

I'll drop you an email for more details.  Or perhaps you could provide some info on submission dates and what you might have available as far as grants.  Likely the biggest hurdle for us cheapskate bikepackers is lack of a suitable camera.

Looking forward to hearing more, thanks.

Great Questions.

Bikeshorts.ca should be updated today or definitely within the next week. It will have download-able applications for the grants (Canadian and International) as well as information about setting up film festivals in other cities.

The video resolution is good enough from a 400 dollar still camera like a panasonic DMC-FX37. The biggest challenge then is sound but that can be done separately and improved in the editing process.

Fun films with a narrative will be given priority over films with politics and higher budget equipment.

By all means email me and I can send you the documents.

Dustin

PS  You can always borrow a friends' camera...or better yet get them to film you.
