I just got a frame bag for my Pugsley and I'm worried about the large velcro straps wearing the paint off. I have a Mountain Feed Bag and it wore the paint off my stem.
I figured clear 3m would keep it from rubbing. Is it even an issue? What have you guys/gals tried or found out?

I have seen posts referring to clear helicopter tape as being the preferred option, but I am not sure what that is,
Can someone post a link or photo?

It is an issue if you're concerned about your paint job - sand/mud will get between your bag and frame and over time literally grind it's way through. Simple clear Scotch tape will do just fine, electrical tape will be better but visible.

I got a roll of helicopter tape from Amazon, I think 1 inch wide. I didn't know what it was either, I just searched "helicopter tape."

Don't bother with clear packing tape or scotch tape. It wears through quickly and you're left with a sticky tape mess to clean up and your paint being worn anyways.

I use blue painters tape. It has worked wonderfully well and comes off easily with no residue.

I can only hope to ride my Fargo or Pugsley enough with the frame bags on to worry about rubbing the paint off...!~!
