Overview

The TransAndalus trail is a route designed specifically for mountain bikes, covering the southernmost region of Spain, Andalusia. Andalusia is a largely natural region, known for many scenic attractions.

Route description

The route does a complete circle through Andalusia, about 2000 kilometers in total.

Trail surface is largely dirt roads, with about 30% paved. 10% of the overall route is singletrack or beach trails. Mostly the travel is through rural countryside, and opportunities to stay in inexpensive hotels (as well as campgrounds) are available in most sections.

GPS Data

See www.transandalus.org for GPS and KML files. We are working on getting a complete track of the route for mapping and statistics and will post here when available.

The movie looks like some awesome riding, ad the length and the great food and scenery of Andalusia and it sounds like a sure winner. wish I could go.

[…] and there’ll be pubs each night (and maybe lunchtime too…). After that I’d like to do the TransAndalus Trail. I’m trying to get the adventure-touring feel, but closer to home. I think in Europe or North […]

Looks like a great trip! How rocky and technical are the dirt roads? Can one do this on a loaded cyclocross bike? (35c tires)

We’ve made three trips on the TransAndalus now and enjoyed every minute on this fantastic route. Our journals and photos are at:

Hello, I finished riding the Transandalus. A lot of sections were closed/overgrown/inexistent. So I made a 2023 updated version of the route here:

Hope it helps

Zoe! I can’t believe nobody has acknowledged your input here!

I only ‘discovered’ the Transandulas yesterday (I bikepacked the Altravesur in 2017).

I’m looking for a two week trip somewhere warm in October and the Transandulas could be it.

Now, I’m obviously not going to be able to ride the whole route in two weeks so I’ll have to choose a section of it…half?
Ultimately, where I can fly to/from directly will be the deciding factor, but if you had two weeks, where would you choose to start/finish?

Thanks in advance!

Adam

Hi Zoe, I fly to and return from Gibraltar this April, 6 weeks total time to ride the Transandulas. I have just downloaded your route so very many thanks for taking to the time to record and to share. Take care, Martin
